48th Annual Bethlehem Star Lighting Ushers in the Christmas Season

The holiday spirit is about to shine brightly in Bethlehem! The 48th Annual Bethlehem Star Lighting is set for Saturday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m., hosted at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church. This cherished tradition brings residents and visitors together to celebrate the season with music, fellowship, and the lighting of the iconic Bethlehem Star.

A Night of Music and Community

The evening will begin with performances by the talented Alexander Central Jazz Band and Madrigal Choir, followed by a program led by Community Christian Fellowship. Pastor Neil Bowman will share the Christmas story and scripture about the Bethlehem Star, setting a meaningful tone for the night.

Under the glow of the star, a musical praise group from Community Christian Fellowship will perform, accompanied by a live nativity scene. To keep everyone warm and festive, Boy Scout Troop 275 will serve hot chocolate and cookies and light bonfires, weather permitting.

Honoring Max White as Star Lighter

This year’s star lighter is Max White, a Bethlehem resident with a remarkable history of service to the community. A 60-year member of Ruritan National, Max has held numerous leadership roles, including president and treasurer of the Bethlehem Ruritan Club. His contributions to initiatives supporting scholarships, schools, scouting, and those in need have left an enduring impact on Bethlehem.

As a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Max played a pivotal role in rebuilding the church after a devastating fire, coordinating activities and fundraising efforts. His unwavering dedication to the Bethlehem community makes him a truly deserving honoree for the 2024 star lighting.
